Paediatric Ophthalmology

Bardhaman Eye Care Nursing Home provides all arrangements for diagnosis and management for pediatric eye disorders. These are – Refractive Error, Childhood Cataract or Congenital Cataract, Glaucoma, Amblyopia, Squint, Retinal Disorders, Congenital Anomalies, Retinopathy of Prematurity.

 

Refractive Error:

It can be far farsightedness (hypermetropia), short sightedness (myopia), astigmatism (cylindrical error). Every child must be tested for visual acuity and for color vision at an early age.

 

Squint:

All eye deviations should be brought to Bardhaman Eye Care Nursing Home. Usually, it is because of some types of refractive error and are treated properly, patients attain good visual activity and parallelism.

 

Amblyopia or Lazy Eye:

In children less than 10 years of age, amblyopia can be very effectively treated by occlusion therapy.

 

Injuries:

All black eyes, every injury in children should be treated at earliest.

 

Childhood Infections:

Any discharge from eye should be deported and treated immediately at Bardhaman Eye Care Nursing Home.

 

Congenital Cataract:

Any suspicion of white pupil leukocoria in child may be due to congenital cataract. Surgery can be undertaken under GA with implantation of IOL.

 

Childhood Glaucoma:

There is minimal awareness that glaucoma exists even in childhood. The early symptoms may be increased watering, photophobia or cloudy cornea. A thorough examination is required for diagnosis and if treated early gives excellent visual outcome.

 

Congenital Dacryocystitis:

This causes constant watering in one or both eyes from birth with or without discharge. Bardhaman Eye Care Nursing Home provide facilities for Syringing and Probing, or DCR after 4 years of age.
